Terms of Service

Last updated August 27, 2026
These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern your access to and use of the websites, applications, datasets, reports, and application programming interfaces offered by School’s Out (the “Company”, “we”, or “us”), including schoolsoutapp.com and its subdomains, the School’s Out Intelligence data explorer, and the School’s Out API (together, the “Services”). By creating an account, requesting an API key, or otherwise using the Services, you agree to these Terms, including the Acceptable Use Policy below. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

Use of Services

You must be at least 18 years of age to use our Services. By using our Services, you represent and warrant that you are at least 18 years old.

Account creation. In order to access certain features of our Services, you may be required to create an account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during the registration process and to update such information as necessary.

Responsibility. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account, your sign-in links and codes, and your API key, and for restricting access to your computer or device. You agree to accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account or API key. An API key identifies your account: every request made with it is your request.

Data and License

The datasets, records, reports, and other information made available through the Services (the “Data”) are licensed to you, not sold. Subject to these Terms and to the plan attached to your account, the Company grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, and revocable license to access the Data through the Services and to use it within your own organisation and within products you operate, in the volumes and at the level of detail your plan allows. The license ends when your account or plan does.

Except as expressly permitted by your plan or by a separate written agreement with the Company, you may not:

  • scrape, crawl, spider, harvest, or otherwise extract Data from the Services by any automated means other than the documented API, used with your own API key;
  • download, copy, or retain the Data in bulk, or assemble any substantial portion of a dataset outside the Services;
  • sell, license, publish, redistribute, share, or otherwise make the Data available to any third party, or use it to build, train, or improve a product or dataset that competes with the Services;
  • circumvent, disable, or interfere with any plan limit, result window, field masking, rate limit, or other access control, or access Data your plan does not include;
  • share, lend, pool, or publish an API key, or use more than one account to exceed the limits of a plan;
  • attempt to identify, contact, or profile any individual from masked, hidden, or aggregated fields, or combine the Data with other information for that purpose;
  • remove or alter any proprietary notice, source attribution, or usage metadata carried with the Data.

Business contact and identity fields are shown only at the plan levels that include them, and complete records are available only under a separate data agreement. We may monitor use of the Services, including request volumes and patterns, to enforce these Terms.

Intellectual Property

The Services and their entire contents, features, and functionality (including but not limited to all information, software, text, displays, images, video, and audio, and the design, selection, and arrangement thereof), are owned by the Company, its licensors, or other providers of such material and are protected by United States and international copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property or proprietary rights laws.

Limited license. Other than the Data license above, the Company grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable license to access and use the Services in accordance with these Terms and your plan. No other right or license is granted, whether by implication or otherwise.

User Conduct

You agree not to use the Services for any unlawful or prohibited purpose. You agree not to use the Services in any way that could damage, disable, overburden, or impair the Services or interfere with any other party’s use of the Services.

User content. You are solely responsible for any content that you upload, post, or transmit through the Services. You agree not to post, upload, or transmit any content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, or otherwise objectionable.

You agree to everything in the Acceptable Use Policy below, which forms part of these Terms.

Acceptable Use Policy

When using the Services, including the API, you must not:

  • access the Services by any means other than the interfaces we provide, or send requests at a rate or volume that exceeds your plan or the published rate limits;
  • probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Services, or breach or circumvent any security or authentication measure;
  • impersonate any person or organisation, misrepresent your affiliation, or create accounts by automated means or for another person;
  • use the Data or the Services to send unsolicited communications, or to contact individuals whose details the Services do not show you;
  • use the Services in violation of any applicable law, including privacy, data-protection, and consumer-protection laws, or in a way that infringes the rights of others;
  • resell access to the Services, or offer the Services or the Data as part of a service bureau, timesharing, or similar arrangement.

We may revoke API keys, restrict plan features, suspend accounts, and remove content that we reasonably believe violates this policy, with or without notice.

Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the Services at any time, without prior notice or liability, for any reason whatsoever, including without limitation if you breach these Terms. On termination your license to the Data ends and you must stop using and delete any Data retained outside the Services. Fees already paid are not refunded on termination for breach.

Disclaimers

The Services are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. The Company makes no representations or warranties of any kind, express or implied, as to the operation of the Services or the information, content, materials, or products included in the Services, including the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of the Data. The Company is not responsible for the behavior of its users.

Limitation of Liability

In no event shall the Company be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with your use of the Services.

Changes to Terms

We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to modify or replace these Terms at any time. The current version is always published at this address with the date it was last updated. Your continued use of the Services after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
